Adelaide Strikers' import Stafanie Taylor will miss the rest of the WBBL tournament because of a knee injury suffered while captaining the West Indies.

Taylor played the first two WBBL matches this season before departing for the Windies' one-day series against India, when she sprained a knee ligament.

Taylor had intended to return to the Strikers for the last two regular season games and the WBBL finals.

England's Lauren Winfield will now remain with the Strikers for two more matches than originally planned but is unavailable for the finals because of national commitments.

The Strikers sit second on the WBBL ladder with four games remaining before the finals.

"We are of course disappointed Stafanie is unable to return but unfortunately these things happen in sport," said Adelaide coach Luke Williams.

"We're really grateful however that Lauren has been able to stay on longer as she's just been fantastic around the group."
