Australian runner Peter Bol cruises into 800m final despite ankle scare
Superstar Peter Bol opened his campaign in style, cruising into the final of the 800m after crossing the line in his heat in first place.
The Aussie shrugged off an ankle scare but showed no hint of discomfort as he took out his heat, despite fearing he might not be able to race just hours earlier.

"I feel good. A big shout-out to my medical team, yesterday I was limping on the way back, today I am fine, so that is a massive thank you," he said after recording a time of 1:47:01.
"I wasn't playing basketball, I just rolled it on the curb at the track. First time ever. I don't really overthink [it], I just went back got some medical, iced it and it was getting better by the night and then in the morning ready to go. I woke up feeling good – the race speaks for itself. It was comfortable, it was nice.

"To be honest that did feel easy, I enjoyed that a lot."
Bol has four days to recover and prepare for Sunday's final.
Fellow Australian Charlie Hunter missed out on the final after posting a time of 1:49:94.
Meanwhile, Steve Solomon has qualified for the semi-finals of the men's 400m. The 29-year-old finished second in the opening heat of the event.
"I'm really happy with today's run," he said.
"I've had a challenging season to put it lightly. I'm really looking forward to coming back Friday night.
"I just wasn't able to get the body right for (the world's) and I'm proud of how I've refocused. It's exciting times."
