WrestleMania 40 AS IT HAPPENED: The Rock wins WWE comeback match; Jason Kelce makes surprise WWE appearance; Australia's Rhea Ripley and Grayson Waller walk out with WWE titles

The first night of WrestleMania 40 is officially in the books!

Australia's own Rhea Ripley and Grayson Waller walked out with championships, while the historic reign of GUNTHER came to an end.

In the main event, The Rock scored the pinfall over Cody Rhodes, putting the odds against the Royal Rumble winner in tomorrow's WWE title main event against Roman Reigns, which will now be competed under 'Bloodline Rules' where anything goes.

The first-half of the match was a slow and plodding affair, but all three active superstars upped the ante in the closing stretches while The Rock caught his breath.

Reigns, Rollins and Rhodes all gained near-falls at different stages as the crowd bit on every big move or moment, before the WWE champ landed a low-blow on Rhodes for another very close two-count.

The Rock would tag back in and go for his patented People's Elbow, but the savvy Rhodes was able to counter it before Reigns accidentally speared his cousin and almost cost his team the match, but both Samoans were able to kick out of the pins.

The match descended into chaos once again as all four men took it outside the ring, leading to Rhodes hitting a Rock Bottom on The Rock through the announce table and Reigns spearing Rollins through the barricade.

In a throwback to last year, Cody hit two Cross Rhodes but as he went for a third, The Rock interfered and hit him with a weight belt, allowing Reigns to hit a spear. The Rock came in to finish the job with a Rock Bottom and People's Elbow for the pinfall win.

The loss for Rhodes and Rollins means that the main event of night two will be contested under 'Bloodline Rules' and anything goes in his world title match.

The Rock and Seth Rollins have gone into the crowd and are brawling there.

Reigns and Rhodes have taken their business up to the stage and are brawling there.

It's all breaking down at Philly!

The longest-reigning WWE champ of the modern era has made the walk down the aisle at WrestleMania to a mixed response - similar to his cousin.

These entrances are all pomp and circumstance and have been going for about 20 minutes, but now all four men are in the ring and it's time for some action.

The Rock has made an earth-shattering entrance at WrestleMania.

The crowd is split - but you can't deny the star power.

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins make the walk down the WrestleMania ramp first.

The crowd is right behind Rhodes, who has become the face of WWE since his return at this same event two years ago, while Rollins remains a popular figure with fans.

And now we wait for The Tribal Chief and The Final Boss.

It's time for the main event of the evening!

The Rock will compete in his first proper WWE match in over a decade, teaming up with his cousin Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in a tag match.

This promises to be full of energy and spectacle, with the stipulation hanging over Rhodes' head prior to his world title showdown with Reigns tomorrow night adding an extra piece to the story.

Let's get it on!

WWE have announced the official attendance for the first night of WrestleMania 40.

According to general managers Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis, there were 72,543 in the building at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly.

Sami Zayn has done it!

The ultimate underdog overcomes GUNTHER to end the longest Intercontinental Title reign in WWE history in an enthralling and brutal battle.

Zayn withstood a ridiculous amount of punishment and had an answer for everything the champ threw at him, before landing a sickening brainbuster on the top rope and two Helluva Kicks in the corner to score a pinfall victory.

"Do you believe in miracles?" Michael Cole exclaimed on commentary.

GUNTHER had previously held the coveted prize for well over 600 days prior to WrestleMania.
