Tim Tszyu has wasted no time finding a new team of people to help him through the next stage of his career, with Australian boxing great Jeff Fenech signing on as his mentor.

Having had just one win in his last four fights, Tszyu was left searching for an answer to fix his mistakes - and it ultimately came at the cost of his now-former team.

A complete restructure was completed in just under six days, with Fenech joining, Darcy Ellis, the son of boxing great Lester Ellis, and Mike Altamura in guiding Tszyu from now on.

It was a surprise move for Tszyu to hire Fenech, given the 61-year-old has been one of his most vocal critics in recent times.

Fenech's main criticism of Tszyu regarded the people in his corner, with his recent run of results only heightening such calls for change to be made.

Following the 30-year-old's last fight against Sebastian Fundora, Fenech labelled Tszyu's team "clowns" and declared his talent was being "wasted" under their guidance.

Tszyu announced last week when he parted ways with his former team that he would be "bringing in some new faces" to help him become a more "mature" fighter.

He has since hired Fenech in a mentor role to do so.

"I'm coming in with the mentality that this is my 2.0," Tszyu said in a video posted on Instagram.

"After my last lost (sic) i felt like I needed a change ... with a different game plan.

"This is my next chapter, this is my time now. I'm coming in with a whole new mindset.

Tszyu, who has a 25-3 (18 KO) record, insisted no specific reason prompted him to dismiss his old team last week.

"I am very grateful for what the boys did for me," he said.

"Especially my coach Igor. He started with me before I was even professional.

"I just wanted a little change and I felt I was in the right position to have that change.

"Tune in and watch because you are going to witness something."

Altamura, hired as a matchmaking strategist, also featured alongside Tszyu in the video.

"Sometimes you need a bit of a freshen up and a different mentality," Altamura said.

"That is where I can make an impact to ensure he makes a good pathway back to reaching all his goals in the sport."
