Touchdown ruled despite dropped ball

Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon should count himself lucky after match officials awarded a touchdown that clearly wasn’t.

Oklahoma was taking on Ohio State when Mixon took off on a 97 yard kick return in the first quarter.

The Sooners running back manouvered his way up the field like a lab rat through a maze, leaving opposition players in his wake.

Fans from both sides thought they were witnessing something extraordinary.

And they were.

When Mixon approached the end zone he most certainly should have become part of a special group of players headed by Deshaun Jackson, who celebrated too early before scoring a touchdown.

But he was spared the humiliation by match officials, who awarded the touchdown without taking a look at the replay, which clearly shows Mixon dropping the ball before the stripe.

It's the second week in a row someone pulled a Deshaun Jackson.

Clemson Wide Receiever Ray-Ray McCloud did the same thing, only this time it was called correctly as a touchback.
