Clipboard saves reporter small getting smashed by baseball at MLB match

The dream gig of working at a Major League Baseball match nearly turned into the worst kind of nightmare for one intrepid reporter.

If not for a clipboard, Miami Marlins beat reporter Craig Minervini would have ended up in all sorts of trouble.

If you explain it nicely, the ball which rocketed off the bat of Arizona Diamondbacks stat Paul Goldschmitt was headed for the mid-section of the journalist.

But replays show the ball may have actually been headed for a far-more private area.

Nothing good would have come from an incident like that if the clipboard hadn’t got in the way.

Baseball players all wear protective ''cups'' to protect themselves, maybe Minervini will look into something similar for himself from now on.
