Caslick to miss 7s world series in Dubai

Australian rugby sevens star Charlotte Caslick has been ruled out of the World Series in Dubai next month with a hamstring injury.

The women's sevens player of the year will miss round two in which the Australian side will try to claw back the series lead from the US, who they trail by two points.

With Caslick sidelined, two teenage debutants have been added to the squad.

Queenslander Georgia Hannaway and Faith Nathan from NSW will take to the field when the tournament begins on December 5.

The duo have risen through the ranks of the Aon University Sevens Series, and impressed selectors with their performances at the Oceania Sevens Championship in Fiji earlier this month.

"Georgia and Faith have worked incredibly hard during the pre-season and we saw what they are capable of on the World Stage at the Oceania Sevens," women's sevens head coach John Manenti said in a statement.

"Fast, creative and agile, both players have really made a mark for themselves in this squad and we're looking forward to seeing their development continue in the next round."

In pool B, the Australians will face off against Fiji on December 5, then Ireland and Spain the following day.

The US leads the pack on 20 points, Australia are second on 18 and New Zealand third with 16.
