Maddening scenes precede Hughie Fury fight as boxer Levan Shonia attacks own corner

Georgian light heavyweight Levan Shonia has shocked the world after attacking his own trainer following a bout with the undefeated Spas Genov.

Despite going the distance with Genov, it was obvious Shonia hadn’t done enough to win via decision – so the contender took matters into his own hands.

The keyed-up boxer appeared to challenge Genov to another round prompting his trainer to rush the ring in an attempt to calm his pupil down.

That only seemed to aggravate the Georgian further as he unbelievably began swinging at his coach.

The coach attempted trying to calm Shonia before becoming fed up and trading back a brisk slap that clipped his fighter’s head.

That got another few swings out of Shonia as the scenes devolved into a farce.

The undercard fight was a bizarre precursor the main event which saw English favourite Hughie Fury’s hopes of a title fight with Anthony Joshua spectacularly dashed by Kubrat Pulev.
