Ben Simmons' future unknown as he parts ways with agent, reportedly contemplating retirement
A split with his manager has added a fresh twist to the saga surrounding Ben Simmons as the Australian star continues to contemplate his future in the NBA.
Simmons has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal after entering free agency in the off-season, with the New York Knicks reportedly showing interest in the 29-year-old.
But a report from the New York Post suggests Simmons could be set to reject multimillion-dollar offers across the league and call time on his career entirely.

Veteran NBA reporter Marc Stein revealed on Friday that agent Bernie Lee had informed the National Basketball Players Association that he is no longer representing Simmons.
The separation comes just weeks before training camps begin, with speculation increasing that Simmons is leaning towards retirement.

Still, there are two teams who are hopeful of securing Simmons' signature.
It has been reported that the Boston Celtics are considering a play for the Aussie alongside the Knicks, who have reportedly already tabled an offer.
Aside from those clubs, ESPN's Brian Windhorst says interest in Simmons is "lukewarm."
"Frankly, if you're looking at him as a point guard, there's not that many teams out there that are in need of a point guard who has guaranteed playing time," Windhorst said.
"Ask Russell Westbrook ... not that Russell Westbrook and Ben Simmons are similar players but they are two veteran free agents that are sitting on that market because there's not a vast need for point guards."

Windhorst also revealed that Simmons could find himself in a situation where he is forced to take a contract without guaranteed money, meaning he would have to earn his spot on the roster during the team's training camp.
"If that is the case, maybe he may want to wait a few months to see where a good fit would be," he said.
"At the end of the day, Simmons' stock has been falling dramatically for years.
"The fact that we're into September and he doesn't have a full time guaranteed job, I think speaks to that."
