'You ready?': LeBron and Bronny James take the court as first father-son duo in NBA history

Basketball legend LeBron James has created history with rookie son Bronny, officially becoming the first father-son duo in NBA history.

In the first half of the Lakers' clash with the Timberwolves, the 20-year-old was inserted into the contest, coming off the bench alongside his dad.

The crowd in Los Angeles erupted when the No.55 draft pick ran onto the court with plenty of nerves written all over his face.

His mother Savannah, sister Zhuri and brother Bryce were all in the house for the magical moment inside the Crypto.com Arena.

"History tonight … what a celebration," commentator Ian Eagle said.

"Just amazing, when you think about it and take a step back. It's so impressive and an incredible story.

The pair join a rare list of American father-son duos to play professional sport together, with former MLB stars Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. in attendance for the game.

Courtside microphones picked up the last conversation between the four-time league MVP and his son, with some timely advice sent to the USC graduate.

"You ready? You can see the intensity," LeBron told his son.

"Just play care free though. Don't worry about mistakes, just go out and play hard."

Bronny's first stint lasted just three minutes before he was taken off the court.

He shot zero from two during his cameo before coach JJ Redick subbed him.

LeBon's Lakers took a 55-42 lead into the half-time break.
