Baseballer bashed by teammates

Police are investigating after a high school baseball player was beaten up by his teammates during a shocking locker room attack in the US that is alleged to have been sanctioned by their coaches.

Footage of the brutal beating shows several players from Camden County High School, in Georgia, bashing the student while a coach can be seen standing in the foreground without intervening.

The attack occurred after the victim wore the wrong colour T-shirt and sat with his girlfriend – who is a cheerleader for rival school Glynn Academy – during a recent clash.

The player told police that two coaches saw him wearing the wrong color shirt and told his teammates that "they need to handle their boy for wearing black", according to US media reports.

But despite the player’s claim that coaches instigated the beating and video of one of them watching it, the school district found no wrongdoing on their part.

The superintendent of the school board said four students who "harassed one of their classmates and fellow football players" had "received consequences".

However, he did not specify what those consequences were.
