Baseball: Reporter caught in cross-fire of celebration

A baseball reporter has felt the full force of a celebratory drenching after being caught in the cross-fire following a dramatic end in a Major League Baseball game.

NESN's Guerin Austin was in the wrong place at the wrong time after Xander Bogaerts saved the Boston Red Sox from a disastrous sweep against the White Sox.

Shortstop Bogaerts was an instant hero when he scored a walk-off single to help the Red Sox prevail in 10 innings.

But in true baseball style, a hero's reward is scant reward at all.

While Austin and Bogaerts discussed his game-winning play, his teammates crept up behind him and tried to dump a cooler full of liquid over his head.

Just one problem – they took out Austin in the process.

The former beauty queen was left wringing blue fluid from her hair as she stood dripping from head to toe.

But showing the chops of someone who's had a few close calls with cooler-led celebrations, Austin got back on the microphone and continued the interview.

"How refreshing does that feel?" she jokingly asked.
