Baseball player's errant throw floors chihuahua mascot

A baseball player has inadvertently ignited what could become one of the sport's great rivalries after hitting a rival mascot with an errant throw during a hilarious fail in a minor league match.

The comical sequence started when an El Paso Chihuahuas batter hit a ground ball to the left of second base.

Footage shows Tecoma Rainiers shortstop Chris Taylor fly in to collect a ground ball before launching a throw to first base.

It’s then that things go a little awry, with the throw flying high and to the left of the first baseman and collecting poor Chico the Chihuahua.

The powerful throw sent the unsuspecting El Paso mascot tumbling back into the dugout

Much to the relief of Chihuahuas fans, Chico did manage to get back to his feet and seemed to signal to the cameras that revenge was on his mind.
