Baseball: Tampa Bay Rays' Carlos Gomez's epic dugout meltdown after striking out
Tampa Bay Rays’ hitter Carlos Gomez lit up Tropicana Field with some of his own 4th of July fireworks staging a meltdown for the ages after striking out.
Gomez, who has endured a trying season at the bat for the Rays, was given his marching orders against the Miami Marlins after striking out following a contentious foul ball call.
Incensed, Gomez barged his way through the dugout before unloading on a stray esky that had found itself in his path.
As the dust settled Gomez’s tantrum looked to be over but not before unleashing a final uppercut on a Gatorade cooler.
The fiery display did little to galvanise the Rays as they went down 3-0 to the Marlins.
"When I'm angry, I'm not thinking really well," Gomez told MLB.com.
"We are human. We can get mad. It's not we're not professional. It's that moment ... Sometimes you get a moment where you get frustrated."
"If they fine for me this, I've got enough money to pay."
