Baseball groundsman gets stuck in tarp

A ground staff member at a MLB field in the USA has found out firsthand that wild winds and a tarpaulin are the worst bedfellows after the players had to help rescue him.

Pittsburgh Pirates players watched on as PNC Park ground staff dragged the cover over the diamond to protect it from rain after the match against the San Diego Padres had been halted.

Footage shows the players jump into action as they realise one of the groundsmen had become enveloped by the tarpaulin as a result of the wild weather in Pennsylvania.

With the players’ assistance, the man emerges and crawls to safety.

Whilst the Pirates prevailed 3-2, PNC Park was officially added to the list of worst places to be a groundsman. A list headed by the Basin Reserve, the notoriously windy New Zealand cricket ground where things like this happen.
