Baseball: MLB catcher shows he should pitch with perfect throw

A MLB catcher has pulled off one of the throws of the season after taking his pitcher completely unaware with a pinpoint lob.

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey showed up his teammate Jake Peavy on a disputed play at the top of the fourth innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

A furious Peavy was too busy remonstrating with the umpire after a check swing call on Diamondbacks hitter Jake Lamb to notice Posey was already in the motion of throwing back the ball.

But Posey, showing he would be more than handy on the mound, didn’t need his pitcher's attention to complete the throw, simply lobbing the ball into the arguing Peavy's glove from more than 18m.

The laser-accurate throw was so good it even took Lamb by surprise – his face summing up the moment with the perfect reaction.
