Ballgirl takes spectacular catch

A ballgirl showed she wouldn’t be out of place on the field after taking a spectacular leaping catch to snare a foul ball during a baseball match in the US.

The San Diego ballgirl was sitting near the fence just outside the foul line when Padres outfielder Matt Kemp blasted a ball out of bounds off the pitching of Philadelphia's Hector Neris in the eighth inning.

With the ball sailing toward a section of the crowd, the girl jumped from her chair and coolly leapt in the air to snatch a brilliant catch that would have made any of the fielders proud.

Her effort drew standing applause from the Petco Park crowd.

But unfortunately it wasn't enough to inspire the Padres, who fell to a 5-3 defeat to the Phillies.
