Baby bodyboarder shoots the curl

When it comes to responsible parenting no two families draw the same line.

So it's no surprise a US father has divided social media followers after posting video of him bodyboarding with his 9-nine-month-old son.

The unnamed bodyboarder uploaded video of him hitting the waves with his infant son, with some feeling it was an act of irresponsibility.

In the footage, the baby lies prone at the front of the board with dad perched behind as they drop into a clean half metre wave, somewhere in Hawaii.

With a GoPro camera pointed back at the pair, the video shows them pull into a clean tube with the youngster initially looking a touch uncomfortable as the folding lip brushes his head.

But the little fella soon breaks into a broad smile inside the green room before emerging unscathed.

While we're not sure what the bub's mother made of the video or dad's actions, it's clear the surf stoked father knew what he was doing on a fairly predictable wave and was in a perfect position to grab his son should they have come off.

It sure makes for a great video and gives the infant the title of arguably the youngest ever tuberider.

And as swimming instructors can vouch, babies are more than capable of submerging underwater from an early age.
