Blake Gaudry has secured Australia a spot in men's trampolining at the Rio Olympics.

Gaudry finished ninth at the qualification event in Rio on Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT) and, while he missed the final, it was enough to rank him in the top-five non-qualified countries and claim a spot for his country.

"We know Blake for his professionalism and composure in the competition arena," Gymnastics Australia chief executive, Mark Rendell, said.

"He is already a seasoned athlete having represented Australia at the Olympics in 2012, so we were confident that he would get the job done."

Gaudry finished 13th at the London Olympics after a fall, and is the current national champion.

While he's the obvious frontrunner, the Olympic team spot won't be finalised until after next month's Australian gymnastics championships.
