Brisbane Lions player Kaitlyn Ashmore had better keep her schedule clear on the night the AFL women's competition hand out their end of season awards.

That's because the AFLW player is going to be hard to beat when it comes to goal of the year following a superb effort against the GWS Giants.

The 25-year-old who gave up her dreams of representing Australia as a javelin thrower in the Olympics to play in the AFLW, soccered the ball in off the ground from a tight angle to help the Lions continue their unbeaten start to the season.

After this superb effort, all eyes will be on Ashmore in the coming weeks to see what she will come up with next.
