GWS Giants defender Brid Stack rushed to hospital after suffering potential spinal injury in AFLW practice match

The Greater Western Sydney Giants and loved ones of Brid Stack are in an anxious wait after the defender was today rushed to hospital with a possible spinal injury.

The Irishwoman was involved in a collision in the Giants' practice match with the Adelaide Crows at Norwood Oval during the fourth quarter, before being stretchered from the ground and into an ambulance.

"Unfortunately Irish recruit Brid Stack has been taken to hospital following spinal precaution protocols after a collision in a tackle late in the fourth quarter," the Giants said in a statement.

"She's in the best possible care and we will provide a full update when we have further information."

Stack is entering her first AFLW season after an illustrious career in Gaelic football, in which she won 11 All Ireland titles with county Cork and was named the ladies' GAA footballer of the year in 2016.
