The Giants will be without Haneen Zreika for their clash with the Bulldogs tomorrow night, after it was reported that the midfielder will not be named due to a refusal to wear the team's pride guernsey.

The Age's Peter Ryan reports that Zreika, 22, will sit the game out after grappling with the decision all week.

Zreika, who became the first Muslim to play in the competition, first picked up a Sherrin as a 15-year-old after growing up on rugby league in western Sydney.

GWS unveiled their pride guernsey last week, to celebrate inclusion of the LGBTQI+ community with their club.

"It's so important and such a big step for our club and our supporters," said forward Rebecca Privitelli.

"I know our girls are really excited to pull on the jumper, it's a big part of all our lives and I hope our fans feel the same way.

"There's a lot of young boys and girls out there that need role models to look up to and I think the AFLW are doing an incredible thing to give young women and men that opportunity."

The team will be named later today.

The Giants will play their first home game of the 2022 season at Henson Park on Friday afternoon.

It will be the first-ever AFLW match at the traditional rugby league venue.
