Reid AC joint injury not serious: Magpies

Collingwood have received some much-needed good news on the injury front, with defender Ben Reid a chance of facing Brisbane on Saturday night.

Reid had scans on Monday, having hurt his AC joint in the AFL side's 15-point loss to Carlton in round seven.

"It's not too bad fortunately," Magpies football manager Neil Balme told the club website.

"He's got a reasonable chance of playing this week.

"We'll have to see how he goes and he'll be tested later on in the week."

Veterans Nathan Brown and Travis Cloke, both out of the side on form, have also avoided serious injuries.

Brown tweaked his hamstring in the VFL on the weekend, while Cloke was a late withdrawal from that game because of a sore back.

"Nathan Brown's hamstring isn't too bad ... the scans don't look too bad at all," Balme said.

"He's a silly chance of being available this week, but probably more likely that he'll miss just one (game).

"(Cloke) was a bit sore during the week ... it was a bit of a risk to play."

Balme suggested midfielder Taylor Adams (knee) and Travis Varcoe (hamstring) could also return against the Lions.

However, Tim Broomhead is expected to miss at least a fortnight after hurting his ankle against the Blues.

"Broomhead's ankle is probably a touch worse (than Reid's injury)," Balme said.
