Police investigating after nachos thrown at Lions fans
A mother and her young son have spoken about the moment food was thrown at them during a chaotic AFL preliminary final.
Rose and her son, both Brisbane Lions fans, were in attendance for Saturday night’s dramatic clash against Hawthorn at the MCG.

They alleged that a bowl of nachos was thrown in their faces as they celebrated Brisbane qualifying for a third-straight grand final appearance.
Video on social media showed the moment the food was tossed away, allegedly by an upset Hawks fan after the controversial 131-122 defeat.
“This guy looked really angry and I wasn’t sure what else he was going to do to us when he threw all the food at us,” Rose told 9News Melbourne.
“We were covered in guacamole and salsa and had nachos dripping off us.”
Her young son admitted he was worried about the situation.
“I was scared, I don’t understand why anyone would do that,” he said.
“I wish my dad was there to help, but when I was talking to him on the phone, he made a little joke and said it’s nacho fault.”
Rose nor her son suffered any physical injuries as a result of the food-throwing incident in the stands.
Victoria Police confirmed on Monday that they are investigating the incident.
It comes after Hawthorn fans threw projectiles at the umpires following a decision in the dying stages that gifted Brisbane a narrow win.
