Sam Mitchell forced to 'tighten the leash' of Jack Ginnivan after podcast comments
Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell has had to rein in Jack Ginnivan for his podcast comments that gave fans an intriguing insight into the tactics of Carlton and Hawthorn.
On the Titch & Ginni Show, Ginnivan and Brownlow Medal winner Tom Mitchell did a deep dive into Carlton's 2025 season.
On the podcast, the magnets and whiteboard were out as Ginnivan spoke about how to exploit Carlton's game plan.

Mitchell has since had to have a mini intervention with Ginnivan.
"We've got to help him toe the line on how much of our plans do you need to actually need to give Jack?," he told media.
"I just tightened his leash a little bit."

When approached by his coach, Ginnivan knew exactly what he'd be talking about.
"He gave me a cheeky smile and nodded to his coach going, 'I know exactly what you're talking about, coach'," Mitchell said.
While it's not great from a Hawthorn perspective, Ginnivan and Mitchell's podcast offered a brilliant perspective from current and recently retired players into game plans.

The Hawthorn coach explained that despite the perception of Ginnivan as a larrikin, there's a side to him fans don't see.
"Jack for all of the bravado you see, he is a real footy head," he said.
"I use him on game day regularly for tactics and how we want to go about different parts of our game."
Hawthorn will play Sydney this Thursday at the MCG.
