West Coast has officially hit "rock bottom" according to Matthew Lloyd, after the club's loss to Richmond on Saturday night.

The Eagles entered the home game favourites up against a Tiger outfit a few years behind them in the rebuilding process.

Despite that, they were humiliated in Perth, going down by 49 points as Richmond put 105 points on them.

The loss is a reality check for a West Coast team that has now effectively clinched this year's wooden spoon.

The Eagles have won just 11 of their 86 games, dating back to the start of 2022, and only won once this year.

Former Richmond star Nathan Brown called out West Coast veteran midfielder Tim Kelly for his performance in the loss, showing a damning passage of play where he clearly refused to run defensively.

"Where's your standards? Where's your leadership?" Brown told Nine's Sunday Footy Show.

"Tim Kelly wasn't the only player that stood there and watched players run past, but if I'm the coach, I'm asking where are your standards?"

West Coast coach Andrew McQualter believes the group is lacking confidence and down on energy, due to the depth of their struggles.

"I think we're seeing a group - they're trying, they're working hard, but they're clearly in such a void of confidence," McQualter said.

"You look at that first quarter, it was a dominant quarter (for us), and we go down on the scoreboard.

"I just think it's hurting deep in some souls of our players."

This is something Lloyd understands from his own playing days.

"I played one season where we won five games. It was the longest year of my life football wise," Lloyd said.

"I can only imagine one win and 17 losses, it's just a nightmare. You just want the season to end. (McQualter's) spot on, they have no confidence whatsoever.

"They hit rock bottom yesterday, I'd say, after being belted by the Tigers."

West Coast will have to pull themselves off the canvas and prepare for round 20's derby with crosstown rivals Fremantle.
