The AFL unleashed its fury on player agent Ralph Carr for going early with their news that Snoop Dogg would be performing at this year's grand final.

The news was officially announced on Tuesday, although it wasn't a huge surprise given Carr dropped the bombshell on his personal LinkedIn page 12 days ago.

"Representing Snoop Dogg for his visit to Australia", the post, which was deleted shortly after, read.

Former Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has revealed the league big wigs were not happy with their big announcement being leaked on LinkedIn, saying they read Carr the riot act.

"There was a rumour Kylie (Minogue) might get a gig (at the AFL grand final) now," McGuire told Nine's Eddie and Jimmy podcast.

"Now, I don't know whether that's the AFL doing a double shifty where they throw in a red herring and then they have the announcement because the (Snoop Dogg) announcement got blown because it had run in the rumour file on 3AW and then Ralph Carr sent out to everybody in the known universe that he was going to be handling other commercial opportunities for Snoop Dogg who will be coming out for the AFL grand final.

"At which time, he had his nose severely pulled by the AFL saying 'our announcement, dickhead, not yours'.

"They weren't happy that he was suddenly sending out to every person in the media that this was a done deal. That went down like a lead balloon."

Rumours of Minogue's involvement in the AFL grand final swirled in 2023, but ultimately amounted to nothing.
