Jack Silvagni decides on new home after famous family ties to Carlton strained

Jack Silvagni has chosen to join St Kilda as an unrestricted free agent.
The 27-year-old informed Carlton last week of his intention to leave the Blues for next season, despite his famous family ties to the club.
It's now been revealed he's opted to join St Kilda instead of Collingwood or the Western Bulldogs, with whom he was also talking.

St Kilda confirmed the news in a statement.
"We're very pleased that Jack has nominated St Kilda as the club where he wishes to continue his career," said a statement attributed to footy boss David Misson.
"As Jack is an unrestricted free agent, he will be entitled to accept our offer once formally submitted during the free agency window in October. We need to respect this process.
"With the official player movement period still several weeks away, we will not be commenting further at this time."

Silvagni is the son of Stephen and grandson of Sergio, both of whom have "legendary" status in the Carlton Hall of Fame.
Stephen Silvagni is also St Kilda's current list boss.
He was appointed Carlton's list boss ahead of the 2015 season but was sacked after the 2019 season, amid concerns of a conflict of interest given two of his sons, Jack and Ben, were playing for the Blues.
Stephen Silvagni has been estranged from Carlton ever since.

Jack Silvagni, a reliable defender, played 128 AFL games for Carlton after being drafted to the Blues in 2015 under the father-son rule.
Two players are set to move from Carlton to St Kilda in the October trade period in Silvagni and ruckman Tom De Koning.
The latter is reportedly set to join the Saints on an eight-year deal worth $1.7 million a year.
Superstar midfielder Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera last month re-committed to St Kilda on a two-year contract.
The 22-year-old reportedly became the first $2 million-a-year player in the league's history.
