The unprecedented trade haul Harley Reid would cost any Victorian club if he made bombshell call
If Harley Reid requests a trade from West Coast to a Victorian club in the off-season, could it be the biggest trade price in history?
No player has ever been traded for three first round picks, without something heading back the other way - would Reid be the first? Could he even warrant two top 10 picks within that?
This is especially possible given clubs are now able to trade draft picks two years in advance for the first time ever.

Dan Houston ultimately ended up a Pie Getty
From Reid's future, to the Dan Houston trade, to Willie Rioli and Brad Green, Nine's chief AFL reporter Tom Morris has answered your questions ahead of round nine of the season.
What actually happened between Dan Houston and Melbourne last trade period... he was perfect for them? - via Sam on Facebook
Tom Morris: He would've been perfect. Melbourne were in a turbulent time regarding Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver, off-field leadership at the club around their former president, there was a lot of uncertainty.
Dan Houston was initially keen. Melbourne was happy to give up two first round picks. The deal was essentially done.
Houston backed out once he got a fair idea of that instability and I've got no doubt he got a front row seat to the instability because he is managed by the same manager as Clayton Oliver and in the same stable as Christian Petracca, which is Connor Sports Management.
Is there any talk of Leek Aleer going to the Swans? - via Tim on Facebook
TM: I haven't heard Sydney, but I wouldn't be surprised. It wouldn't surprise me given how aggressive Sydney traditionally is and the fact that Aleer can't find a regular spot in this GWS team.
Sydney are an interesting one because I still think they're trying to work out exactly where they're at. They've kept Chad Warner, re-signed Logan McDonald, but there's still a few holes in their team.

Is Carlton chasing anyone in this trade period? - via Adam on Facebook
TM: I'm sure they are. They tried to get Will Hayward last year. That's the sort of player they'd love and that's an obvious hole in their list.
I don't think they can afford any big fish. There number one priority is retaining Tom De Koning and extending Sam Walsh.
I don't think Carlton bringing in a big fish such as Petracca, who was mentioned last year, is an option for them.
Why aren't the AFL & Port Adelaide being pushed to give Willie some sort of sanction. It's a really bad look for children to see/hear? - via Brett on Facebook
TM: As of 2.15pm Wednesday, the AFL is being pushed by various stakeholders to sanction Willie Rioli and I believe that he will be sanctioned with some kind of games ban, but we're not sure yet.
Port Adelaide are supporting Rioli, but it is an AFL issue and they should have come down harder on Monday.

Are there any guidelines covering LED advertising at games? Intensity, colour and 'movement' are detracting from the sport and it surely affects players? - via Phillip on Facebook
TM: It doesn't affect players, as far as I know. I've actually asked that question before.
I agree, I find it distracting to be a spectator, but money talks and if sponsors want to get their product out there, the best way is with bright shining lights and if that means spectators are somewhat frustrated by it, then I think the AFL is willing to pay that price given the amount of money involved.
But Phillip, I'm with you on this one.
Are you expecting Essendon to follow through with an offer for Harley Reid? - via Allan on Facebook
TM: Yes, I think Essendon, like many clubs, if they get an idea that Harley Reid is looking at them, then they will offer big money on a long-term deal to bring him across.
I still think Essendon is a few deep in the pack, though. I think Hawthorn and Geelong are ahead of Essendon, but it doesn't mean the Bombers can't fly up, pardon the pun, given their draft hand, given their salary cap space, and given historically they are a big club.
I'm not ruling them out, but I think it is less likely.

What will actually be Harley Reid's trade value if he does request a trade? - via WWOS team
TM: It depends on where the picks land in the first round as to how many he would be worth. I would say minimum two top 10 picks, another in the teens would be the price.
Because he's contracted, I think his value is higher than if he wasn't contracted, but that's another year away and he could have a dominant year next year.
This is my personal view - I would be hesitant about giving up three first round picks for anyone. Here's what I would give. It won't be enough. I think he's worth one pick between five and 10, one pick between 10 and 15 and one pick between 20 and 25, if I'm going to be specific.
Have the Bulldogs put themselves into a Hinkley-Port Adelaide 2023 style situation with Luke Beveridge? - via WWOS team
TM: Well potentially, but I don't mind clubs in limbo because their short-term focus becomes razor sharp.
I like what the Dogs are doing. It would be a different story if another club was trying to poach Luke Beveridge, but because he has confirmed that he is not going anywhere else, there is no rush for the Dogs.
And if there's no rush for the Dogs and there's no rush for the coach, then let it play out. It's unique, but I quite like it in these circumstances.
Brad Green is again in the headlines for an unsavoury post on his social media. Nine/ X
What are your thoughts on Brad Green's reaction to Clayton Oliver being asked a question walking into training on Tuesday? - via WWOS team
TM: When Harry McKay was missing due to personal issues, the club said it was indefinite and they asked for his privacy, and everyone respected that given there was no prospect of him playing football any time soon, even though he was playing VFL at the time.
When Melbourne said that Clayton Oliver was having a week off, and then their captain goes on radio and puts it on the agenda that he'd like him back to face Hawthorn this week, and then Oliver is walking into training on Tuesday; asking the question 'are you playing this week', after your captain has previously spoken about it publicly, is not an invasion of privacy.
Nor is it over the top. Nor should it be unexpected. AFL players have a right to privacy around their homes and in their social circles, yes they're walking into a workplace, but largely the broadcast rights fund that workplace.
If Joel Kennedy had doorstopped Clayton Oliver on Chappell Street or been overbearing with his questions, I would've agreed that it's over the top, but asking 'are you going to play?' is a very reasonable question when a player is walking into training. It's commonly believed he will play this week anyway.
Would Oscar Allen be a Lion in a few weeks if there was a mid-season trade period? - via WWOS team
TM: I don't know the mechanics of doing that with free agents, but broadly speaking I haven't changed one iota that Oscar Allen wants to play for Brisbane next year, so the sooner he can get there the better.
It's no good for West Coast if Allen gets injured, because then his compensation might be diluted. At the moment it's a really awkward situation for the next few months.
I still think he will be at the Lions next year, barring an unforeseen circumstance.
