The Adelaide Crows have unveiled a new, retro-inspired logo, but it's drawn a mixed reaction from fans.

The club says the new look draws inspiration from its past, evoking memories of the club's formative years in the 1990s.

"We've got a rich footy heritage, so thought why not go back to the swooping crow, from 1991, but give it a modern feel," Crows CEO Tim Silvers told 9News Adelaide.

It's already drawn the ire of the internet, where reaction has been mixed. The club has copped plenty of criticism across its social channels, even if the sentiment seems to be shifting.

"The people are really going to love it, it might take a bit of time, but we're really proud of it," Silvers said.

The final design is different from a leaked version from September, featuring a darker blue, richer red, and deeper gold.

It also marks a shift in the club's branding, dropping "Crows" from the logo.

"We use the name Adelaide now, rather than Adelaide Crows... we think it's a better connector to state, to city, to club," Silvers said.
