'I can offer a lot': Clint Gutherson confirms Dragons move after surprise release from Parramatta

Clint Gutherson has officially put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Dragons.

Parramatta confirmed on Thursday the skipper had been granted a release, with Gutherson ending a lengthy tenure with the club.

St George Illawarra wasted little time announcing the news on Friday and the 30-year-old is excited to get to work in his new colours.

"I feel really excited and honoured to be able to come here and put this jersey on and have that badge on my chest," Gutherson said.

"The rich history that this club has is second to none. The direction the club went in this year and where Flano and the staff are taking the club is something I want to be part of.

"I think I can offer a lot to where we're trying to go over the next few years. I'm looking forward to the challenge and what lies ahead."

Head coach Shane Flanagan welcomed the signing of the star fullback.

"Clint will be a fantastic addition to our squad over the next three seasons," he said.

"He is not just an elite fullback; he also brings leadership, competitiveness, toughness and versatility. In addition to his obvious on-field qualities he will also be a huge asset to our emerging players over the coming years."

The news has already sent shockwaves through the Eels, who have also released experienced prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard for next season.

Mitchell Moses heard the news when he was in Kangaroos camp and admits it will be tough to farewell Gutherson from the blue and gold.

"I'll miss him big time," Moses told Nine's Today on Friday.

"He is one of my closest mates at Parramatta and he's going to be missed big time.

"But we've got to move on, we have a big future ahead of us. I wish him all the best."

Gutherson is the Dragons' third big signing for next season after clinching the signatures of Damien Cook and Valentine Holmes.

It's expected young gun Tyrell Sloan will move to the wing to accommodate his arrival, which is estimated to be worth $2.5 million over three seasons.
