North Melbourne star Majak Daw has sent out an emotional message to the club's fans and members, saying he has been "blessed with a second chance in life".

Daw was involved in a frightening incident prior to Christmas, which saw the 27-year-old fall from the Bolte Bridge, prompting grave concerns for his well-being.

The Kangaroos star had been yet to speak since the incident, but took to North Melbourne's club website to post the statement.

The defender suffered a broken hip from the incident and was rescued by Victorian Emergency Services, but revealed that he is making "huge strides" with his recovery both mentally and physically.

Daw also added that he hopes to be back playing for the Kangaroos "soon", although it remains to be seen when he will next appear on a football field following the severity of his injuries.

The 50-gamer added that he appreciated the privacy handed to him throughout the ordeal.
