Kane Cornes has had the last laugh in his back and forth with Collingwood fans after their disastrous finals exit at the hands of Geelong in Saturday's semi-final.

Cornes was set upon by the Magpies faithful after last week's elimination final win against West Coast which came after he claimed they were "making up the numbers".

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire even got stuck into Cornes, revealing a cheeky message he sent the Port Adelaide great after the Eagles win, but Cornes made sure he did not miss McGuire in his response.

"I think they were feeling very confident going into that game with the commentary that they were going to do a lot of damage going forward," he told Nine's AFL Sunday Footy Show.

"I had a look at Eddie last night and you don't need the scoreboard, all you need is Eddie's face and that tells the score. He was up and about last week and sending myself and TJ messages all through the week, but nothing from Eddie.

"Not one message, not one tweet, nothing from these Collingwood clowns."

Cornes' comeback came just days after McGuire revealed exactly what he texted the Port Adelaide champion.

"I said, '76 to 75, how about those for making up numbers'," McGuire told Nine's Footy Classified on Wednesday night.

"That's a bit of schoolboy banter. I loved what Kane was saying, I thought the whole year has been an adventure in so many ways.
