The Western Bulldogs have rejected a monster four-way trade proposal which would have seen Alex Keath and Josh Bruce secure moves to the club.

According to Fox Sports, Adelaide was the "architect" behind the trade which was knocked back by the Bulldogs after it refused to part ways with its pick 13.

The deal was involving St Kilda, Adelaide, the Bulldogs and the Sydney Swans and would have seen the Saints land Zak Jones, while the Swans would have received pick 28 in return for the speedster.

St Kilda: receive Zak Jones in exchange for Josh Bruce

Western Bulldogs: receive Alex Keath, Josh Bruce and pick 23 in exchange for pick 13, 32 and 51.

Adelaide: receive picks 13, 32 and 52 in exchange for picks 23, 28 and Alex Keath

Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni has opened up on the team's negotiations with Sydney on a trade for small forward Tom Papley.

"We're obviously in discussions with Sydney. We're hopefully we can get a deal done in the next 48 hours," he told reporters.

"They have said to us that they would love to have Tom stay at their club and he is a contracted player, but we're hopeful we can get a deal done that's fair and reasonable for both footy clubs."

Silvagni adds that he would prefer the Papley and Jack Martin deals happen "sooner rather than later" and "not necessarily down to the wire", adding that the Blues have had conversations with both the Swans and Gold Coast Suns today.

Sydney has reportedly ruled out 21-year-old midfielder Ollie Florent in any potential trade for Essendon star Joe Daniher.

Both Sydney and Essendon remain locked in a stalemate with the Swans' current offer of picks 5 and 25 in the upcoming draft well below the Bombers' asking price.

Essendon has been up front about wanting a quality player in return and is understood to be interested in one of Florent, Isaac Heeney, Nick Blakey, Callum Mills and captain Luke Parker if it is to part ways with Daniher.

Florent is currently contracted to the Swans through the 2022 season and averaged a career-best 19.2 disposals per game in 21 games this season.

Carlton is making a move with a couple of days left in the AFL Trade Period, adding to the Eddie Betts deal by tabling a two-year offer to Hawks big man Marc Pittonet.

The 23-year-old has played just seven games in three seasons for Hawthorn, and has reportedly knocked back the one-year deal offered by the club, per The Age.

Pittonet will back up Matthew Kreuzer with current back-up ruckman Andrew Phillips widely expected to join Essendon in the coming days.

Eddie Betts has made his first public appearance as a member of the Carlton Football Club after his trade from Adelaide went through this afternoon.

He has touched on how he has grown as a leader compared to when he was last a member of the Blues and explained his connection with the fanbase.

"I think I'm a better leader now and coming here I think I still have a lot to offer," he told reporters.

"This club has always been in my heart. It's a fairytale and a homecoming.

"I think I played my best footy under David Teague when he was our forward line coach at Adelaide and I can't wait to re-connect."

Stephen Silvagni and Justin Reid have arrived at AFL House and lodged the paperwork necessary for a trade which makes Eddie Betts officially a Carlton player.

The price for the three-time All-Australian is a future fourth-round pick.

Eddie Betts was a prominent goal-kicker during his first tenure with Carlton, but turned prolific after his move to Adelaide back in 2014.

Since the heights of 2016 and 2017, the veteran forward has struggled over the past two seasons.

Port Adelaide has released a statement in relation to a story linking Wines with Carlton:

PORT ADELAIDE is aware of recent media speculation relating to Ollie Wines' future at the club. 

As a principle, the club is generally reluctant to respond to rumours involving its players throughout the AFL trade period. 

However, in this instance, given Ollie is the current co-captain of the club, Port Adelaide believes it is important to confirm that at no stage has Ollie requested a trade from our club. 

Equally, at no stage has Port Adelaide contemplated trading Ollie to any other club and he remains a required player.
