AFL teams: Jack Steven held out from Geelong's Round 2 clash after stabbing incident
Geelong star Jack Steven will have to wait until Round 3 to make his debut for the club, after the Cats opted to err on the side of caution following his stabbing incident.
Despite Steven returning to training and impressing those around the club, coach Chris Scott has opted for a conservative selection policy which will see Steven likely make his debut in Round 3.
After returning to the club following his stabbing incident, Steven trained well in match simulation, but the club has opted to give him an extra week of training before he partakes in an AFL match.
Steven is not the only big name to be ruled out of tomorrow nights' clash between Geelong and Hawthorn at the MCG, with Hawks star Jaeger O'Meara also ruled out.

O'Meara failed to get clearance from his surgeon to resume contact training in the lead-up to the clash against the Cats after suffering a fracture above his eye last month.
Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson confirmed O'Meara's omission from his Round 2 side earlier today.
"We haven't been able to ramp him up to full contact as yet. The doctor won't allow us to do that until early next week," Clarkson said.
"He's an unfortunate miss for us this week but hopefully he'll be right for next week."
