We got hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+, here's what we think

I've been a Samsung fan for a good part of my life. I've had phones from the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge up to the S10. I recently made the switch to an iPhone 15 Pro, having never purchased any phone first-hand before. It's great, but some parts make me miss the feel of Android devices.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ fulfilled many of these desires. It boasts a large 13.1-inch display and I found it surprisingly perfect for various activities like watching movies, playing games, using it for university, drawing, viewing recipes, and displaying music during home events.

The S10 FE+ also includes an S pen on purchase, which felt like a wicked throwback to the first generation Galaxy Note – the last time I had a stylus with my device.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ in a nutshell...

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ gives you a big, beautiful 13.1-inch screen that makes watching movies and browsing feel immersive. Although I am used to using higher refresh rates, the experience is still smooth thanks to its 90Hz 1440x2304 pixel display.

The tablet comes fresh with the latest Android 15 software and Samsung's easy-to-use One UI 7 – so it's super simple to navigate. Inside, it also has a decent Exynos 1580 chip that handled everyday tasks and even some light gaming without slowing down.

You have the option between two storage sizes: 128GB (with 8GB of RAM) or 256GB (with 12GB of RAM), and you can always add more room with a microSD card. For photos, calls and videos, it has a 13MP back camera and a 12MP front camera.

The sound is pretty good too, thanks to its stereo speakers and the 10,090 mAh battery means you can go all day (and maybe even two) without needing to charge – a valuable plus if you're substituting this for a laptop.

And don't worry about spills or dust as the tablet is rated well for water and dust resistance.

Price and availability

At entry-level, the Galaxy S10 FE+ is priced at $699 with a 10.9-inch display. The Galaxy S10 FE+ is priced at $1149 with a 13.1-inch display – each coming with three colourways: grey, silver and light blue.

For a more premium experience, the Galaxy Tab S10+ is priced at $1399 with a 12.4-inch display. And the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is priced at $2099 with an even more impressive 14.6-inch display. Both have "Moonstone Grey" as the only colourway.

The good news is that when choosing between the options, you are choosing based on the experience you want – but if you're looking for basic functionality, they all have you covered.

For me, the Galaxy S10 FE+ gave me enough power likened to an entry-level laptop.

AI capabilities

The tablet comes with some inbuilt AI features to help ease the user experience as well. A couple of photo-related tools like the "object eraser", "remaster" and "best face" help you fix awkward moments or enhance the photo's look. The "auto trim" tool also allows you to quickly create highlight reels from your videos.

The tablet offers a "circle to search" by holding down the home button, giving you AI Google summaries of images or text on the display. Despite feeling gimmicky, it's definitely a fun tool to use.

I also had a play with the Samsung Notes tools, which feature some handwriting tools that help tidy up your note-taking and a tool that solves even some complex math problems.

Overall, I didn't find myself using the tools that much, particularly the photos tools (as I take photos on my phone more). The notetaking tools alongside the S pen were definitely my favourite, and I can see students getting the most out of it.

Should you buy it?

If I wanted to adopt the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ into my everyday ecosystem, a keyboard cover would be essential. Samsung offers the Book Cover Keyboard Slim edition at $349 and a Book Cover Keyboard with a trackpad for $449. Both come with a new, handy Galaxy AI key to assist with work.

With a cover like that, the tablet becomes incredibly useful for anyone who wants their tablet to do the job of a laptop and students alike, especially with the S Pen and the tools for notetaking. The tablet's size and processing power are sufficient for everyday tasks, so it could be a decent substitute at work too. Weight-wise does not feel too bad either, sitting at 664g.

For casual use, the 13.1-inch display shines. Watching movies, browsing the web, light gaming, or following recipes in the kitchen are all enjoyable experiences. The long battery life means you wouldn't have to worry about frequent charging, too - and it's a relatively quick charge supporting up to 45W.

Whether you're a student, a professional, or simply someone who enjoys a larger screen for entertainment, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ offers a good value and versatile experience.
