First released in 2007, the Kindle has changed how we read our favourite books. 

Over the years Amazon has continued to innovate its signature e-reader giving consumers more to choose from. This month the e-tail giant has upgraded the range, releasing new editions of their base model, Paperwhite and Scribe. 

Here's everything you need to know about the latest Kindle range to help you choose which model is perfect for you.

Best features:

• It is the lightest Kindle released so far, weighing just 158g
• The 6-inch display is glare-free, making it easier to read outside and in strong lighting

How is it different to the original?

• The new model is 25 per cent brighter and as bright as the Kindle Paperwhite
• It has a higher contrast ratio, so you can make the screen more or less brighter than before
• You can turn your pages faster with an improved response time

• You can read more of the page on its 7-inch glare-free screen
• It is now the thinnest Paperwhite model, measuring just 7.8mm
• Up to three months of battery life lets you read more for longer
• It has 16GB of storage – so room for more books
• Its oxide thin film transistor improves the contrast ratio
• The adjustable warm lighting settings let you read comfortably in any light
• The size and boldness of the text can be changed
• It has an IPX8 water-resistance rating

How is it different to the original?

• This model is now the fastest e-reader in the Kindle range, increasing the speed of page turning and library scrolling by 25 per cent
• The screen size has increased from 6.8-inches to 7-inches

• You can choose from three storage options: 16GB, 32GB or 64GB
• It comes with the Premium Pen, which has been built to feel like a real pen
• Active Canvas lets you write directly on the page of the book you're reading. This will link your notes to that section. It will also move with the page when changing the font size or book layout
• You can access its built-in notebook to write lists, draw and journal in one place
• Your notes can be converted into text to make it easier to read or email to others
• It is available in two colours: Tungsten and Metallic Jade

How is it different from the original? 

• Its 10.2-inch display has been redesigned with white borders to look similar to paper
• The screen has been built to feel similar to a paper-like texture like the Kindle Paperwhite
• The Premium Pen now has an eraser to clean up any mistakes and a shortcut button to quickly assign the pen to a set task like highlighting or note-taking
