Valid in over 40 select destinations, you get up to 4GB of data, 100 minutes of incoming and outgoing calls, 100 international text messages, and the best part is that it's valid for up to 365 days.

And when you switch to Felix, you can get up to 50 per cent off your first 3 months.

Belong

If you're someone who prioritises staying connected with friends and family, I'd say Belong is the way to go.

The international roaming package is $30 and lasts up to 15 days once activated. You get access to up to 45 destinations with 3GB of data, unlimited standard SMS and up to 150 minutes of call time.

Optus

Optus offers international roaming add-ons to Choice Plus plans. Pay $5 for 5GB of data with unlimited texting and calls for 24-hours. This option depends on how long you'll be away for.

Tangerine

Tangerine is offering good value international roaming plan add-ons. You can choose between a $35 7-day roaming package with up to 5GB data, 30 minutes of voice calls and 30 text messages.

Alternatively, you can choose a 14-day roaming package with up to 10GB data, 60 minutes of voice calls and 60 text messages.

You'll have to pair it with one of their SIM plans here, which are offering up to 50 per cent off for the first 4 months and double data for the first 6 months.

How to make the most out of your roaming plans

A good tip is to activate your plan right before your official travel days, so you get more time with the package during travel.

Some newer smartphones also have room for a second SIM card, so consider local SIM cards if you're planning to travel longer than the packages are active for.

If you don't have room, you can also check for eSIM compatibility with your current phone and register through a plan using that.
