Everything to know about Amazon's newest smart home gadgets

Amazon has announced a range of upgrades to its tech offerings, with new devices and features available across Fire TV, Ring, Blink, and Echo. 

In case you're unfamiliar with Amazon's smart home range, Ring and Blink are camera systems designed for home security, Fire TV is a unique streaming device, and Echo is a smart speaker range with Alexa enabled so that it can also help around the house (think shopping lists, reminders, timers, etc.).

Here's what to expect from the new range, which is available for pre-order ahead of its release on November 12.

What's new with Ring?

Ring cameras and doorbells were designed to make users feel safe, offering vision both within the home and around the outside of the house. Their latest lineup of products, Ring Retinal 4K, features next-generation imaging technology for more precise, lifelike video with AI tuning.

The Ring Wired Video Doorbell Pro is Ring's most advanced wired video doorbell to date, featuring Retinal 4K, 10x enhanced zoom, Low-Light Sight, and Adaptive Night Vision. You'll be able to watch recorded footage clearly, even when captured in the dark.

The range also includes doorbells with lights. Check out the Ring Spotlight Camera Pro and the Ring Floodlight Camera Pro (2nd Gen).

What's new with Blink?

Blink is new to us, as the home security brand expands into Australia and New Zealand. Blink focuses on security and affordability, so their range falls well below the $100 mark.

Focusing on home security that's "simple, smart, and accessible", they're launching the Blink Video Doorbell. It features 2K image quality and smart features, and will cost just $89 here.

Their range also includes a plug-in camera, the Blink Mini 2K+, for just $59, plus a twin camera device and an outdoor floodlight device.

What's new with Echo?

Amazon's range of smart speakers has only gotten smarter, with four new devices hitting the market. The Echo Dot Max and Echo Studio are designed to deliver exceptional sound with Alexa Home Theatre.

Meanwhile, the Echo Show 8 and the Echo Show 11 are Amazon's most advanced smart displays yet. The devices feature an improved viewing experience, combining in-cell touch and negative liquid crystal design, which has allowed for increased clarity and picture quality. They also have a maximised viewable screen area, so you can see more content.

What's new with Fire TV?

Offering access to over 350,000 movies and TV episodes across various streaming platforms, the upgraded Fire TV Stick 4K Select is your affordable entry point into 4K Ultra HD streaming. 

This version comes with an Alexa Voice Remote, so you can ask for your favourite movie to be played, rather than searching for it on-screen. Also, the Fire TV Stick 4K Select will soon support Xbox Gaming. 

You can also control compatible smart devices with the Fire TV Stick, including connecting your Echo speakers for a surround-sound experience.
