Amazon has announced the release of the Echo Spot, a new member of their Echo family of smart home devices.
Coming out just in time for Amazon Prime Day (which kicks off next week!), the Echo Spot is a re-release. A product with the same name was launched in 2017, remaining on the market for two years before being discontinued in 2019.
Customers reportedly didn't like that it had a camera built-in, with the lack of a camera being the most significant difference between the old and new models.
So, let us introduce the brand new Echo Spot.

What is the Echo Spot?
Another member of the Amazon smart-home family, the Echo Spot is a smart alarm clock that can also function as a speaker.
"Customers care about the way they wake up in the morning and go to bed at night and the all-new Echo Spot will transform the way they start and end their day," Patrick Walker, the Country Manager for Amazon Devices Australia and New Zealand, shared.
Like its siblings the Echo Pop and Echo Dot, it can also manage your reminders, call your friends and family members, and connect to your smart home with compatible devices like lights and doorbells.
It also gives you instant access to Alexa, which can give you weather updates, tell you the time, and a myriad of other information as needed.

How is it different to the other Echo devices?
The most significant difference between the Echo Spot and its siblings is that it has a display screen. While the Echo Show is a tablet device, the Echo Pop and Dot have the appearance of speakers. The Echo Spot looks more like an alarm clock, adding something different to the mix.
This means you'll be able to see the time, the weather and whatever song is playing at a glance on the Echo Spot, rather than interrupting to ask Alexa these questions. You can personalise the display with different clock faces and a range of colours (orange, violet, magenta, lime, teal and blue).
The Echo Spot is also a good choice for music lovers. It has a new 1.73-inch front-firing directional speaker, which allows for deep bass (and clear calls, but the music quality is a real positive). It's also compatible with a range of streamers: Spotify, Apple Music, Audible and Amazon Music are all available.
How can I get the Echo Spot?
The Echo Spot is available from today on Amazon. You can grab it here for $149.
Can I still get other Echo products?
Absolutely! The Echo Show, Echo Pop and Echo Dot are all still available on Amazon. Best of all, they're currently discounted ahead of Amazon Prime Day.
