Uniqlo's viral barrel-leg pants are all I wore in 2025

Uniqlo's Jersey Barrel Leg Pants were my most-worn wardrobe item in 2025 – and yes, I have the data to prove it.
Last year, I tracked the cost-per-wear of new items that entered my wardrobe, and I wore my navy Uniqlo pants 59 times, bringing their cost-per-wear to just over $1.
Barrel-leg pants were a huge trend in 2025 and continue to dominate. The style is usually fitted at the waist, then curves out on the legs, and tapers towards the hem.
I've acquired a few barrel-leg styles since my first, but the reason I return to the Uniqlo ones time and time again is that the shape is pronounced enough to be interesting and wider than a straight leg, but not so balloon-y that they look ridiculous. The proportions are just right.
The pants are a women's style but have become so popular they've found many male fans on TikTok. 9Product Reviews
I got a pair in navy when the pants, which went viral on TikTok, were first released. I like that the navy pants can feel as formal as wearing black pants, but work just as well in casual settings. I actually think they've unlocked a hard-to-achieve outfit vibe in the way they relax more office-appropriate looks (think a button-up and loafers) and dress up weekend attire (T-shirt, cap and thongs).
The fabric helps (the 'jersey' in the name is misleading) – it's a mix of cotton, polyester and elastane, which feels really comfortable, a little slinky, but also helps hold its curved shape.
I'm 163cm tall and got size S, which is the perfect full length for me; they sit about 1cm off the ground when I wear shoes. I tried size M, which created a more curved silhouette, but I would have needed to get them hemmed. The popularity of the pants, which were originally labelled as a women's style but are now classed as unisex due to their wide appeal, means they're a Uniqlo classic, and the Japanese brand has since released new colourways every few months.
Dark brown and dark grey are the newest additions, and while I'm trying to limit the number of pants I buy this year, I can't promise one of these won't make it into my wardrobe…
If you need any convincing to jump on the trend, here's how I've styled my Uniqlo Jersey Barrel Leg Pants – I've worn them to work, on weekends and even to Disneyland.
This outfit works for the office or a function at Disneyland. I paired the pants with an oversized striped shirt, loafers and threw a knit over my shoulders to pose with some characters. 9Product Reviews
You can't beat the simplicity of a slouchy black tee and the pants. To add more interest, I layered necklaces and wore silver ballet flats. I almost always wear a belt with jeans or pants.
From certain angles, the pants can look like wide-leg tailored pants. On a warm autumn day, I added a touch of femininity with a green ruffled top I had made in Vietnam, and finished the look with black fisherman sandals I've had for years.
These pants work for every season. 9Product Reviews
I love the way the pants drape and pool over shoes. The coverage means my leopard print sneakers don't quite steal the show, but still get their moment to shine.
My leopard print Adidas sneakers take a back seat this time. 9Product Reviews
The pants were perfect to wear on a sunny-but-slightly-windy day spent gallery-hopping, worn with a classic striped top (also from Uniqlo!) and a car coat. I added pops of colour with my cap and sneakers.
The outfit options are endless. 9Product Reviews
