Whoever 'cancelled' leggings definitely hasn't worn these

You might have heard on the rumour mill that leggings are on their way out. I'm a little bit upset by this.

Leggings aren't just a wardrobe staple, they're a religion for many women – whether you're a fitness freak or not. During winter, they're my everyday go-tos. I'll only hoist my legs out of them and into jeans when totally necessary.

Admittedly, I only wear shorts in the gym (sweaty girl problems), but what's seemingly replacing the humble leggings is so much worse. Enter the '90s and Y2K-inspired "big pants". Cool, maybe if I'm going out in Sydney's edgier suburbs, but wearing those for a workout? Absolutely not. I'm breaking out into a distressed sweat just thinking about it.

Leggings might be for millennials – I'm technically Gen Z, so I'm holding the fort down here – but the hill I will die on is that there is nothing that makes your bum look so good.

Yeah, I appreciate that might not be everyone's prerogative, but if the peach is peach-ing, be damned if you don't show it off.

And I'm not just talking about any old leggings. Oh, no, no. When I die, bury me in my lululemon Groove Nulu Super-High-Rise Flared Pant.

I dare not toot my own horn (ok fine, I will), but these leggings have stopped friends mid-sentence because they are that flattering.

Summer may be around the corner but while the weather is still temperate, you absolutely must cop a pair and find out the hype for yourself.

What makes them so flattering?

The range sits either high-rise or super high-rise, which, when paired with the subtle flare from the knee to hem, truly accentuates your legs. I love how they hug my body from my waist to my knee without suffocating.

What are they made of?

Lululemon is known for its weightless, buttery materials, and the Nulu Fabric used for the flares range is no exception. Breathable and sweat-wicking, the four-way stretch also has added Lycra fibre for stretch and shape retention. God forbid a saggy legging.

Are they easy to work out in?

The flares feel like a second skin, so they are perfect for casual wear and low-impact activity like yoga or Pilates. Although I did spot someone running in them at Sydney's City2Surf, so using them for running isn't totally out of the question.

The Groove styles also have a waistband pocket that holds a card, key, or phone, which is super handy when on the move.

What about shorter people, any options for them?

The length of any pair of pants is a constant battle for the vertically challenged. I'm 5'7 and still struggle with pants dragging along the floor. This flared pant range comes with a 32" or 32.5" inseam, so they are intended to skim the floor for heights of 5'5"-5'8". Despite having a short leg-to-torso ratio, they fit well for me. But I'll often wear my flatform adidas Gazelle Bolds for an extra buffer.

If you're not tall enough, or not a fan of flatform sneakers, they have the Align High-Rise Mini-Flare Pant in Extra Short.
