What a shopping editor is adding to her wardrobe for spring

A new season brings a new opportunity to spend – not like we need an excuse. But as someone who works with a curated capsule wardrobe, I’m not one to just add to my wardrobe because of a trend. Which is why I carefully audit what’s worth buying each season based on whether it will go with what I have, if it’s truly worth the money, and whether it will last me season after season.

It might feel like a strange buy for the warmer weather, but outerwear no matter the season; if it’s a classic style and a complementary silhouette is always a smart buy.

Jelly sandals have had a minute, but we’re swiftly moving on to jelly thongs. As someone who wasn’t always a fan of thongs as shoes anywhere but the beach, I’m coming around to seeing perfectly pedicured toes flip-flopping about in jelly thongs. Sure the Christopher Esber pair are god tier, but also pricey for plastic. Thankfully, there are plenty of options that look near identical and give an elevated take on the humble rubber thong.

Hot tip: if you ever want a good white tee, shop the men’s section at H&M. It was during a white tee hunt that I stumbled on this checked relaxed fit shirt. It’s part of the plaid shirt uprising that’s dominating transeasonal trends, but this one is less plaid and more bold-check, which offers a nice pop of colour to a capsule wardrobe.
If you size up you can wear it as cover all in summer, over a white tee (your H&M white tee, perhaps?) on milder days or tie it around your waist for some dimension to your look. This piece will definitely go the distance throughout the seasons.
K Juliet cotton beach and bathrobe
According to reports, this summer will be a hot one, and judging by the first few days of spring, we’re going to be spending a lot of it pool and beachside earlier than we’d hoped, which is why I’m locking down my next beach robe.
