What are toner pads?
K-Beauty toner pads are simply cotton or gel rounds or squares that are pre-soaked in a toner solution. They come readily available in little tubs (sometimes with a pair of tweezers inside, used for careful pad separation), so can be immediately swiped on or stuck to the face.
They are available in many different varieties depending on your skin needs. There are ones that are designed to focus on exfoliation, others look to brighten complexion, plump the skin, or unclog pores.
How to use toner pads
Typically, toner will be applied to a cotton pad and swiped across the skin. However, with K-Beauty toner pads, there are a few ways that they work. You can still use them purely as a toner, just streamlining the process from pot to face instead of having to pour any from a bottle.
They can also be used as spot treatments. If you have a spot, some irritation, or fine lines you wish to smooth, apply the sheet to the area and keep it there for five to 10 minutes. Since they are so thin and weightless, they’ll easily hold as you go about your day.
Or, if you need a more intensive treatment, you can take a few and use them like a sheet mask. They are easier to apply than a typical sheet mask (less breakage or faffing around) and you can mix and match pads depending on your skin goals.
Why are Korean toner pads a popular prep step?
These pre-saturated pads are more than a simple toner, they act as several steps at once. They are designed to clear away residue missed by your cleanser, deliver active ingredients, regulate the skin’s pH, and prep the surface for the next part of your skincare routine.
When do you use toner pads?
Toner pads are the second part of your skincare routine. They are used following cleansing and before applying serums and creams, moisturising, and applying SPF.
