9PR: Summer outfit inspo under $150

9Product Reviews

When household budgets are tested, shopping for new clothes is (sadly) the first thing to go. We get it, there's just no justifying a new outfit when you've got to keep the lights on but your rent and car insurance are all due in the same month.

Remaining style-conscious while battling cost-of-living pressures doesn't have to be an expensive process. How do we know? We're constantly trawling our favourite high-street stores for deals on trend pieces that will go the seasonal distance and we're happy to report that you can pull together an entire stylish outfit for less than $140.

The challenge:

  • Find an outfit perfect for a warm summer day
  • Pieces must be neutral in colour (likely to match with existing wardrobe)
  • Practicality and comfort are essential
  • The outfit must be able to be worn as is and serve as a stylish base
  • All together it can't cost more than $150

What we found:

Slit hem twill skirt - $34.99

Rib tank - $14.99

Tote bag - $39.99

Snakeskin slides - $19.99

Angular aviator sunglasses - $30

Total = $139.96

The end result:

Skirt, tank, sandals, bag and sunnies - the gang's all here! 9Product Reviews

The reason:

Stylish summer dressing doesn't always have to be loose linen pieces, it's possible to inject some trend pieces into your look without feeling hot and bothered.

We found the base of this outfit (the skirt and tank) at the skirt and tank. It's a no-brainer for affordable dressing that follows the trend cycles. The midi skirt in light beige is made from 100 per cent cotton and features a middle spilt, which we appreciate for the movement it creates... and airflow on a hot day. We chose a for the as it pairs nicely with beige and it's a neutral colour that will serve you transeasonally too.

The accessories also tick the trend box but also serve practical and functional purposes. The tote bag, from Cotton On, is big enough for the items you can't leave the house without and the weaved texture is a slight nod to the popular designer brands we all love but definitely can't afford. Thanks to its shape, size and style tote bag will go the distance as an everyday tote season after season.

The are a Cotton On buy and for the price, we think they're a steal. If our stylish Scandinavian sisters are anything to go by thongs aren't just for the beach – they've entered the trend space with elevated versions of the humble rubber thong (). Plus the is the newest animal print on the block.

We finished the look off with a pair of aviator sunglasses in tortoiseshell (thank you, ASOS). The colour and the style match perfectly with the green and beige tones of the rest of the look.
