What is the Black Friday sale?

Traditionally, Black Friday refers to the major shopping event that takes place on the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States. Now, that major shopping event has been embraced worldwide, marking the start of the Christmas shopping period.

In Australia, it’s evolved into one of the busiest shopping events of the year. No longer is this sale event four days of impressive deals; in recent years, it has expanded to a month of savings, typically ending not long after Cyber Monday.

When exactly is Black Friday?

This year, Black Friday falls on Friday, November 27, but you can expect retailers to start discounting products from the end of October, both in-store and online. We promise to keep you updated as soon as the official deals drop.

How long does the Black Friday sale go for?

The main sales period is the four-day event from Black Friday to Cyber Monday. In 2025, this will be from Friday, November 27, to Monday, November 30.

Many retailers begin sales in the weeks leading up to Black Friday, and some stores may extend their sales past Cyber Monday, because why not?

Be aware that some specific promotions may only be available for a limited time, sometimes they drop as 'flash sales', so it is important to act quickly if you see a deal you want.

Is it worth waiting for Black Friday?

Definitely. If you're looking to sort your Christmas shopping early doors and save a lot of money in the process, shopping during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday period is wise.

You can be guaranteed a deal on everything – tech, gaming, appliances, homewares, fashion, beauty, kids' toys, gardening, non-perishable pantry staples... we mean it, everything!

If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed already (don't worry, so are we), we'd recommend curating a list of must-haves and keep your eyes peeled for those brands going live with their sales.

Where can I find the best Black Friday shopping deals?

The easiest place to start is with the major e-tailers, think: Amazon, The Iconic, Adore Beauty, ASOS, plus places like Myer, dThe Good Guys and Sephora.

But most major retailers will join the party, too.
