Experience
Katie has been a journalist and editor for almost two decades working across print and digital newsrooms.
She started her career in Newcastle, in North East England, where she rose through the ranks at metropolitan newspapers before becoming chief reporter for the Newcastle Chronicle, breaking high-profile stories that shaped the national news agenda.
Katie freelanced for the Daily Mirror, in London, leveraging an impressive contact book of senior police figures, MPs, industry leaders and celebrities before moving to the Daily Mail to become assistant news editor.
In 2016, she moved to Australia to work with the Daily Mail shortly after they launched their Australian website, becoming news editor in 2018.
Katie then moved to News Corp to become editor of NewsWire, News' internal wire service. She held that role for three years before taking on an additional role as news director of news.com.au.
She moved to Nine in February 2026 to take on the role of executive editor of nine.com.au.
Education
Katie has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom and holds a NCTJ certificate.
