John Walsh

John comes to nine.com.au after a long career with Nine broadcasting. He now writes exclusively for 9Travel as The Getaway Expert.

At Nine John was the Executive Producer of Australia's most successful travel show, Getaway, for 25 seasons.

In addition to that he was the Executive Producer or Network EP on some of Australia's biggest titles including Married At First Sight, The Voice, Beauty and The Geek, Australia's Got Talent, The Hundred, Hay Mate, Good Food Christmas, Christmas With Delta and Love Triangle for Stan. In 2020, he was Executive Producer of the historic Music From The Home Front concert honouring Anzac Day and the efforts of Covid frontline workers. He also wrote and produced the multi-season series The Amazing 80s, 90s and Noughties.

In 2023, he was named one of Australia's Top 10 Content Creators by B&T magazine.

Prior to joining Nine, he was an Executive Producer in News & Current Affairs at SBS where he was a Walkley Award Finalist for his work on the ground breaking series Face The Press.

He has a Master's degree in Media Practice (with Merit) from the University of Sydney.

He started his career in the media as a journalist with News Corp and later worked as a news producer at Channel 10.

Away from writing and producing John's big passion has been his family and in what spare time he's had he has won awards for songwriting including the Australian War Memorial's inaugural Anzac Song of the Year in 2015.
