'I'm not a cat': Zoom filter mishap from Texas court hearing goes viral

A video from a virtual court hearing has gone viral after a lawyer activated a cat filter by mistake.

The meeting, of the 394th District Court of Texas in the US saw one of the lawyers somehow become a fluffy white kitten, leading to a hilarious discussion which has been posted online and shared on social media.

The image of a the white cat appears on the Zoom call alongside the officials in suits, with the creature appearing to talk.

Judge Roy Ferguson tells lawyer, Rod Ponton: "Mr Ponton, I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings. You might want to..."

"Can you hear me, judge?" Mr Ponton replies, as a kitten.

"I can hear you. I think it's a filter …" the judge says.

"It is, and I don't know how to remove it," the cat says.

"I've got my assistant here, she's trying to, but I'm prepared to go forward with it. I'm here live. I'm not a cat."

"I can see that," the judge replies, trying to help him get the filter off, as the video ends.

The Judge Roy Ferguson later tweeted that the video was released for "educational purposes" and showed the "legal profession's dedication to ensuring the justice system continues to function in these tough times."

He also offered a 'Zoom Tip', saying: "If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off.

"This kitten just made a formal announcement on a case in the 394th," he added.

The video has has millions of views, and a spoof Twitter account has even been set up, called Rod Cat Ponton.
