Incredible salary of Zara heiress Marta Ortega, inside her powerful new role
Marta Ortega, the glamorous daughter of Zara and many other fashion labels, will soon become one of the most powerful names in the fashion world.
The 38-year-old is set to become the new chairman of Inditex — the parent company her father Amancio Ortega founded in 1985, which owns seven major European Brands.
And the switch is taking place today.
As of today, Marta Ortega will oversee the movements of seven well-known and well-loved fast fashion brands, including Zara, Stradivarius, Bershka, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Uterqüe and Oysho.

With a new role always comes a new pay packet, and Ortega's is one many will envy. In her executive position, Marta will take on a salary of one million euros a year — or $1.48 million.
But the salary is certainly not the main drawing card. With her father long being considered one of the richest men in the world, money is certainly no object.
At the time of the announcement last November, the mother of two, who is married to Carlos Torretta, son of Madrid designer Roberto Torretta, spoke of her wish to continue her father's legacy.
"I have always said I would dedicate my life to building upon my parents' legacy, looking to the future but learning from the past and serving the company, our shareholders and our customers," she said.

"I have lived and breathed this company since my childhood, and I have learned from all the great professionals I have worked with over the last 15 years."
Pablo Isla, the former chair of Inditex who Marta will be replacing, said the handover is part of the company's generational transition.
"We have been preparing for this transition for a long time," Isla told a press conference last year.
He added: "Marta has been working in the company for 15 years. She has led many projects...[she] knows it like the back of her hand."
